You Cannot Substantially Improve Employee Net Worth.

You CAN SUBSTANTIALLY Improve Employee SELF Worth

Greetings, NE/SAE!

Here’s a selection of videos showcasing the acronym CHAPS which WILL help you improve Employee Engagement, Employee Retention AND Member / Customer Satisfaction.

The CHAPS concept suggests five simple Micro-Goals that you can achieve every day that will develop a better level of employee engagement and ultimately improved employee retention. These are actionable activities that will address what is often referred to as the great resignation.

Employee Engagement Tips that Work: #1 of 5

Compliment ONE Person today

NE/SAE 2022

My core belief as an employee engagement speaker and consultant is that most managers / leaders cannot significantly impact employees net worth, but literally everyone – managers / leaders / co-workers CAN substantially impact the self worth of employees, direct reports and peers.

In this article we look at the “C” in CHAPS and the Power of a Compliment to enhance the workplace environment but briefly, the  CHAPS Micro-Goals relate to:

C – Compliment one person today.

H – Hear ‘Thank You’ (See more on Employee Engagement TIps “Hear”)

A – Address colleagues / customers with their name (See more on Address Colleagues with name)

P – Positive words create positive impact (See Video and Article)

S – Smile – as in, Put a smile on someone’s face.

CHAPS: Micro-Goal #1: Compliment ONE Person today

The Power of a Compliment in developing and encouraging Employee Engagement.

Here’s a few questions to get the ball rolling!

Is it fair to say that when you receive a compliment from a superior or peer, you feel more motivated and engaged?

Is it also fair to say that when you receive a compliment it generally enhances your perception of the person that provided the compliment?

You’ve probably answered “Yes” to both of those questions.

Now, let’s flip the questions so that it is now you who providing the compliment.

Is it fair to say that when you compliment a work colleague, that colleague is likely to feel more motivated and engaged?

Is it also fair to say that when you compliment a work colleague, it is likely to enhance their perception of you?

Again, you probably answered “Yes.”

So, here is the first basic step that you can take to improve employee engagement and morale. Set yourself a Micro-Goal that “I will compliment one person today.”

When you compliment that one person, what happens? You realize “Hey, I’ve achieved my goal” and ……. the dopamine kicks in. You feel better. But what about the person you have complimented. They obviously will feel better and happier also. It is a win-win situation.

Complimenting someone goes a long way to enhancing a co-worker’s self-worth. When you improve a co-workers self worth, that person is going to feel more motivated and productive.

A more motivated and productive person is a more engaged person. The more engaged your team and workforce is, the better your employee retention numbers will be.

Now, here’s the question for you. Who will you compliment today?
